Marsden Rawsthorn is a progressive and forward thinking legal team, dedicated to bringing clear, practical guidance to clients throughout Lancashire and the North West.

Combining a culture of innovation with a history dating back to the mid-nineteenth century and beyond, our team is informed by a rich tradition and a formidable pedigree. By embracing change and continuing to build on these foundations we have become established as one the longest standing, most well respected legal firms in the region.

The current team was borne of the merger between Marsdens and Rawsthorns on 1st May 2007. Creating a new breed of regional law firm defined by its rigorous expertise, streamlined service and affable team, this collaboration represented the latest in a long line of mergers for both companies.

Marsdens took form in 2002 when Marsdens of Preston (which had already combined with a number of other long established local firms, including Hodgson & Son and James Jukes Dodd & Company) and Ryan Heatons of Chorley merged to become the first of a new type of limited liability partnerships in our area. Further strength was later incorporated following a merger with Bamber, Langley, Milner of Chorley.

Operating as Rawsthorn Amber Brown for many decades, Rawsthorns laid down deep roots in the Preston area. The firm can be traced back to the 1860s, although an Attorney of the name Ambler was practicing during the reign of Elizabeth I.

Leveraging the rich history on both sides, the resultant team is driving standards of legal practice to new heights, harnessing intelligence and efficiency to provide a cost-effective alternative to city firms without compromising on expertise.

Our firm has continued to develop and grow by constantly embracing new developments and keeping clients at the centre of our activity at all times. In this way we have built relationships that span decades and mature into highly productive partnerships.

As we move forward into the future we remain commitment to a culture of innovation. Continually embracing new technologies and approaches we will further improve our service, communicate more effectively with our clients and ensure that, in everything we do, we are thinking clearly.
