TBA

Summary

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) has consulted (to Jul 2008) with businesses and consumers as part of a wide-ranging review of the consumer protection regime. The review:

  • looks at where existing legislation can be simplified and made more flexible, while retaining the necessary level of protection;
  • considers how to simplify and rationalise the enforcement of legislation, allowing regulators to focus on higher-risk sectors or business; and
  • investigates how consumers can be kept better informed by communicating and explaining legislation more effectively.
