Our Commercial Property department is celebrating its busiest ever year with a 20 per cent uplift in fees despite the pandemic.
The impressive figures come during 12 months that have seen interruptions to the market through the halting of valuations and house moves, and businesses closing offices due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The department, which has been steadily growing for several years, has expanded due to the increase in workload, which has also seen staff members take on more diverse work. The team covers everything from simple residential vacant properties and new build developments to commercial multi-let centres and complex multi-million-pound transactions.
Four new starters have joined the team in the past 12 months, ranging from no experience to 26 years in the profession to enhance our service to the clients.
Associate director Nicola Fairhurst said the increased workload was an impressive feat against the challenges of the past year.
She said: “Everyone has gone above and beyond their roles to ensure that the department has operated as smoothly and efficiently as possible, and has risen to the challenge of working from home exceptionally.
“We have steadily grown year on year for the last five years but, in the middle of a pandemic, we certainly didn’t expect this to continue at the rate it had previously and, if anything, possibly quicker than the growth we have seen in previous years.”
Nicola said she believed the reason for the uplift was the service the team offers clients. “We don’t need to go looking for work really, the work finds us,” she said. “Our clients recommend us to their colleagues and family members and we have built up a good reputation with our clients and their communities accordingly.”
Looking ahead, it will be important to build on this success. Nicola added: “We have an amazing team and a brilliant client base, and we have a lot of junior members of staff who in a few years will be running their own caseloads.
“Bringing in the new generation of fee earners is really key for us to ensure we can continue to give our clients the best service for as long as possible.”
