Half a century of law

Friday 12th August 2016

Marsden Rawsthorn is celebrating a big milestone with our very own Eric Gardner, as Monday 8th August 2016 marks fifty years service with the company and our predecessor firms.

Eric is a director and a long standing employee of Marsden Rawsthorn Solicitors after originally starting work with Hodgson & Sons as an office junior at the age of 16. From there he qualified as a solicitor and was later made a partner in 1979 with the same firm.

In 1999 Hodgson & Sons merged with Marsden Huck and Eric moved from covering all aspects of law to specialising in Wills, Probates and Trusts, as well as heading up the Wills and Probate department. Marsden Rawsthorn later formed as a merger of several firms including Hodgson & Sons and following a corporate restructure in 2013 Eric was appointed a director of Marsden Rawsthorn.

Outside of the office Eric takes a keen interest in cricket and is a Life Member of Lancashire County Cricket Club; he also enjoys the odd game of Correspondence Chess.

Eric had this to say about his long career – “I have had the pleasure of meeting many people both clients and staff and I hope I have been of assistance to them. It does not seem like fifty years since I started as a bright eyed teenager.”

Over his time with the company Eric has played his part in shaping the Wills and Probate department as well as the company itself and we are extremely happy with the work he has done for us and his clients. We would also like to congratulate and thank him for his long career.
