Intellectual Property Disputes (IP)

Disputes & Debts

IP solicitors

Intellectual property can include

  • Inventions
  • Musical, literary or other artistic works
  • Symbols, Trade Marks and branding
  • Names and images
  • Commercial designs
  • Confidential information
  • Patents
  • Copyright

These concepts are protected in law by IP rights for certain periods of time. For example, while patents last for 20 years, trademarks can last indefinitely provided registration renewal fees are paid; and musical, literary and artistic works are typically protected for the life of the author and for 70 years after their death.

Our Dispute Resolution Team can assist if your IP is being breached by a third party, or if you are accused of breaching another’s IP rights.

Additionally, we have clients in business who have found that their business’ good name, reputation and goodwill is being used and taken advantage of by a third party (called passing off). We advise and represent those clients about their rights in relation to any such third party.

Contact us

If you have an IP issue or an issue relating to passing off, then please make contact with our Dispute Resolution Team on 0800 294 4410. We’ll be keen to help.
