What services does Marsden Rwasthorn offer?

The following specialist services are offered at both of our offices in Preston and Chorley:-

Wills and Will writing

A Will is essential to provide for and protect your loved ones’ interests after your demise. A well-written Will gives you peace of mind that your plans will be followed and your loved ones are taken care of in the event of your death.

Inheritance tax planning

With advice from estate planning professionals, you can also ensure the Inheritance Tax burden on your family is minimised and that your wealth is used in the way you intended.

Probate and Estate Administration

Our lawyers can support you with as much or as little help as you need in dealing with the estate of somebody who has passed away. Our team are very experienced at dealing with complex and high-value estates, however, they can also assist with smaller estates and grant-only applications. Our team can assist with dealing with an estate regardless of whether there was a will in place or not.

Trusts

Trusts can enable you to preserve family assets when, for example, someone is too young to handle their own affairs. There are also many other reasons why a trust may be used. Trusts can be used as part of inheritance tax planning. There are several different types of trusts and deciding which trust is the right option for your circumstances can be complicated. Our lawyers can advise you on your options to help you put the correct trust in place to meet the objectives sought.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney allows a legally appointed attorney to handle the affairs of an individual if they lose the mental capacity to do so themselves. This might include making decisions about property and finances, or health and welfare.

Court of Protection

If someone is unable to make their own decisions due to mental incapacity and there is not a Lasting Power of Attorney in place, a deputy can be given permission by the court to make decisions for them.

Care fees planning

We have specialists with substantial experience in handling the financial and property-related consequences of going into care. Our experts can provide you with advice on how to best protect your estate should you require care in the future.

Inheritance & Will Disputes

We provide inheritance dispute advice to help resolve disputes over inheritance when a loved one has passed. Marsden Rawsthorn is one of only a few firms of solicitors in the North West who offers this service.
